Should I hire this company?
Ten checks, all against public evidence you can verify in minutes: the CRO register, VAT validity, insurance, statutory trade registers, references and payment terms. Do them before the deposit, not after.

What this means
The checklist protects the money, not the outcome. A company that passes all ten can still do poor work — but if it does, you will have a contract, an address, an insurer and a payment trail to recover from. The ones that fail are the ones where people lose deposits with no recourse.
Important assumptions
Every figure on this page rests on these. Where one does not match your situation, the answer moves — sometimes a great deal.
- CheckIreland does not query the CRO or any register on your behalf; the links open the official searches.
- The deposit threshold of 25% is guidance, not law. Large jobs with bespoke materials can justify more, paid against delivery of those materials.
Official sources
Where this tool applies a published rule, this is where the rule comes from. Check the source before acting on anything that matters.
